# LCL/FCL Whole-Shipment Comparison

Complete the same shipment scope before comparing proposals. This worksheet organises a buyer's questions; it does not provide rates, a volume threshold or a service recommendation.

## Fix the goods and endpoints

Product and total purchase quantity: __________

Supplier orders to be received together: __________

Packing list version and date: __________

Cartons or pallets, dimensions and weights: __________

China collection or receiving point: __________

Same South African handover address or collection point: __________

Required business date and receiving contact: __________

## Blank proposal comparison

Record an amount and currency where available. Add one status to every cost: **confirmed**, **estimate**, **excluded** or **unknown**. Missing or excluded charges are not zero.

| Review item | LCL proposal | FCL proposal | Clarification, owner and due date |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Provider, quote date, version and validity | | | |
| Goods, quantity and packing version covered | | | |
| China start point and collection work | | | |
| Receiving, checks and packing scope | | | |
| Origin handling and main freight calculation | | | |
| Destination handling and release scope | | | |
| Customs arrangement, duties and import VAT scope | | | |
| Final delivery or collection to the same point | | | |
| Product-specific or optional work | | | |
| Storage, waiting or extra handling conditions | | | |
| Site access, appointment and unloading arrangement | | | |
| Container-return arrangement, if relevant | | | |
| Estimate starts when | | | |
| Stages remaining after quoted arrival | | | |
| Earliest supported handover assumption | | | |
| Confirmed subtotal only, with currency | | | |
| Estimated, excluded or unknown items still open | | | |

## How to use the table

- Keep the purchase quantity unchanged while comparing services. Record any proposal to buy more stock as a separate buying decision.
- State supplier consolidation requirements separately from the proposed ocean service. Several suppliers do not automatically mean LCL.
- If one quotation ends at a terminal and another ends at your premises, request the missing stages before treating the totals as comparable.
- Keep quote dates, evidence dates and validity visible. Ask what changes require a revised proposal.
- A confirmed subtotal is a partial figure until all required work is addressed. Keep each missing item's owner and next review date beside it.
- For each timing estimate, record its start event and final handover point. Confirm the receiving and equipment-return work that applies to the selected service.

## Fictional example row

This invented row illustrates a scope mismatch. It is not a rate, booking, customer record or Jeton service commitment.

| Review item | LCL proposal | FCL proposal | Clarification, owner and due date |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Final delivery to the buyer's Gauteng premises | Included according to the example scope; amount status still to be checked | Excluded; example proposal ends at a named terminal | Buyer to request the remaining delivery and receiving scope by [agreed review date] |

## Decision record

Unresolved items that prevent comparison: __________

Selected service and scope, with reason: __________

Quote version and assumptions used: __________

Approval owner and date: __________

Review again if these packing, readiness, service or receiving conditions change: __________
